Sea Mammals v. Osama

Did you know that dolphins and sea lions are a part of the military budget? Since the 1950s, flipper and his friends have been one of our first lines of defense. They can be trained to locate mines on the ocean floor, clearing a safe path for naval vessels.

The program is currently in the news because of a new initiative to bring the sea mammals to the waters off of Washington State around the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor. Animal rights activists say the waters are too cold for the animals.
